St. Paul's Church, Syongila & All Saints, TunguSt. Paul's Church in Syongila, Kenya, is St. Lawrence's Partner Church. The vicar of St. Paul's, Canon David Mutisya, trained in Bristol during the early 1990's and visited Biddulph on several occasions during his period of study in England. When David returned to Kenya, St. Lawrence's agreed to become a partner with St. Paul's and to pray for the work of the Gospel at St. Paul's and at its two daughter churches - All Saints, Tungu & St. John's, Matinyani (a new church plant). The link with St. Paul's was further strengthened when members of our church visited Syongila during the summer of 1995, 2002 & 2005. During August 2001, the congregation at St. Lawrence's welcomed Canon Mutisya and two church elders for an extended visit to Biddulph. In October 2006, we were delighted that Canon Mutisya was once again able to visit Biddulph with Mrs. Rose Masila, a member of St. Paul's congregation. They brought greetings and news from our brothers and sisters in Kenya. In November 2007, Jessica Simba, Careforce volunteer from St. Paul's joined us in Biddulph for a 12 month placement at St. Lawrence's. It's hoped that a group of young people from St. Lawrence's will visit our Partners during 2008. Latest News: St. Lawrence's also regularly prays for Rev. Simon Muoko who comes from Syongila but is now vicar of St. Augustine's Church in Nairobi. Photographs of our recent visit are available here. Back to HOME page. |
